please help me, with my old lathe hi every one, new to this group. any help and info would be great..

i brought an old lathe at a carboot for £5, i spent hours putting it together as i know nout about them and had no instruction. its a small lathe with no makers mark on it, has all parts as im told but that why i need help, i cant seem to attach it to the belt drive? and there seems to be to many cogs? basically im a nit wit, im a wood man :) want to get this working and have a play, motor works to my relief, and is marked LAFERT, im going to up load lot of pics, one bit seems to be home made, but you can see for your selfs. lathe is 26.5inches approx in length. please help me many thanks tobytools |

First off, have a look here at http://www.lathes.co.uk/index.html Complete reference guides to lathes and particular makes. To attach the drive belt to the headstock, usually means removing the headstock first? You probably have too amny gogs left over, because they could be the screww cutting gear wheels, for the back of the lathe? Happy hunting Alan |
